Ben Nevis Challenge 

An incredible challenge to summit the UK’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis. With spectacular views of the Scottish Highlands this is the ultimate UK trekking challenge. The trekking route starts almost at sea level, so you will need every ounce of energy to reach the summit 1,344m above you. Throughout the challenge you will be fully supported by our qualified mountain leaders.

• Join a group of up to 30 fellow hikers and raise funds for Ryedale Special Families

Itinerary 

DAY 1, FRIDAY 20th SEPTEMBER 2024 
Travel to Fort William 
Arrive Ben Nevis Inn, our accommodation for both nights. Meet the rest of the group and have dinner at your leisure (cost of dinner not included). 
Car share to be organised between the group for your journey to Fort William and return. 
 
DAY 2, SATURDAY 21st SEPTEMBER 2024 
Summit Day! 
Today is when we set out for the summit. After a Safety Briefing, ahead is 17.7km of tough walking as we head up the Pony Track, along the famous ‘zig-zags’ before heading out across the plateau to the summit. 
After celebrating, we will descend back to our accommodation where there will be a celebration dinner (cost of dinner not included). 
 
DAY 3, SUNDAY 22nd SEPTEMBER 2024 
Departure. 
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the Ben Nevis Inn before departure (cost of breakfast not included). 
Please note: we reserve the right to make any amendments necessary to this itinerary. The timings offered in this itinerary are offered as a guide only. Precise timings during the challenge may vary depending upon things such as weather, group ability etc. 
Age restriction: 16+. Under 18s must be accompanied by their parent/guardian throughout the challenge and an online Acknowledgement of Risk waiver will need to be signed by an attending parent/guardian on behalf of any minor. Maximum 2 minors per parent/guardian. 

What does it cost? 

£192.50 per person PLUS, your commitment to raise a minimum of £250 in sponsorship for Ryedale Special Families charity. 
 
The cost includes 2 nights’ accommodation in the Ben Nevis Inn, based on 4 people sharing a room, plus a contribution towards the hire of a professional guide. 
Food and travel is not included. 

What you will need 

A full kit list will be issued on receipt of your deposit and prior to the event participants will be asked to complete a medical disclaimer and advise on any medical condition. 

Pre-Challenge Training Programme 

A training programme as well as a number of training walks will be organised prior to the event, with special thanks to finess trainer Katherine Bray at www.katherinebray.com 

Reserve your place 

Don't be dissappointed, we have limited numbers and there has been a lot of interest. To reserve your place we require a £50 deposit, the balance payable 8 weeks prior to the challenge. Please note, the deposit is non-refundable.
