Yorkshire Wolds Cycle Challenge
Yorkshire Wolds Cycle Challenge
The Yorkshire Wolds Cycle Challenge was started in 2011 and has since become the charity's most important annual fundraising event. Starting and finishing in Norton, Malton, it's a non-competitive but challenging event whereby cyclists have to ride 72 miles each day around the highways and byways of the beautiful Yorkshire Wolds, stopping for an overnight camp at the halfway point in Hutton Cranswick.
The event usually takes place at the beginning of July and relies on a team of approx 50 people to help make it happen, including event organisers, marshals, Guardian Angel riders, first aid and mechanical support, luggage transfer team, volunteers at the halfway venue and even a security guard to look after the bikes overnight!
Riders pay a nominal entry fee then in addition, raise sponsorship for RSF. In addition, we're indebted to our event sponsors Bannister's Yorkshire Family Farm, Big Bear Bikes, Inntravel, Kent Buiding Developments, MKM Malton, Matthew Maw Removals and Propak. Typically the event attracts over 200 riders and raises between £30,000 - £40,000 each year.
