Parent Support

Ryedale Special Families was formed by parents whose children required special needs within the North Yorkshire area of Ryedale. Parent support therefore forms an integral and vital part of the organisation. We cover support for families having children with a wide variety of disabilities and special needs.

We can introduce families to others who are subject to similar circumstances.  At 121 Town Street, we have a library of information covering a wide range of topics that may be useful. Where appropriate, we can signpost to other organisations that may be able to help and offer additional assistance. We can meet with families at 121 Town Street or visit you at home.

Education Advice

Trained advisors, can offer individual support on education issues. We may also be able to provide advocacy at review meetings.

ADHD Group

A group of parents meet regularly at 121 Town Street for informal discussions of matters that concern them.

Autism Support Group

A group of parents, all having a child with Autism meet every second Tuesday of the month, at 121 Town Street.

Parent To Parent Helpline (Answerphone)

Following training, parents have launched a helpline that other parents can contact. Although we cannot man this helpline on a 24hr basis, parents requiring specific information, or help, can leave their details and they will be contacted within 24 hours by another parent having a child with similar disabilities or special needs.
