  2-5 year olds - First Steps

First Steps, an independent organisation now runs weekly sessions at 121 Town Street. 1-to-1 support is given to children with special needs.

8-12 year olds - Junior Club

A fortnightly club for 8-12 year olds with special needs. A small group, of around 5-12 children are supported by Sessional  workers and access many activities including;

  • Arts and crafts
  • Swimming
  • Ten pin bowling
  • Trips out

There are  2 separate groups, one on Monday evenings and one on Saturday mornings.  The sessions last 2 hours

Magic Moments Youth Group

Ryedale Special Families run a weekly youth group for young people with special needs aged 13-23. It is based in Pickering, North Yorkshire on a Thursday evening at 7-9pm. Regular activities are available including;

  • Music
  • Pool
  • Table football
  • Arts and crafts
  • Games
  • In addition the young people arrange a variety of other events, including ;

    • Ten pin bowling
    • Cinema outings
    • Shopping trips
    • Themed party nights
    • Seaside trips

     

    School holiday sessions include a wide variety of trips and activities.

    Youth Group members over 17 years old  meet occasionally for social activities.

    Family Activities

    Ryedale Special Families run a wide range of social activities which are suitable for the whole family to attend. These include;

  • Monthly swimming sessions in Pickering
  • Activity days, which include, kayaking, archery, climbing, orienteering, and swimming all run in conjunction with Ability Outdoors Hyperlink
  • Family parties at 121 Town Street
  • Picnics and barbeques at Dalby Forest
  • Day trips, for example, seaside, Beamish museum, Alnwick Gardens and ice skating
  • Short holidays, in previous years we have gone to Blackpool illuminations, Legoland and Disneyland Paris
